Another beautiful fall weekend ahead. The leaves are changing and the colours in Caledon are beautiful!

Here's what's happening at Spirit Tree this weekend:

🍎 Apple Picking - Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm. We are picking Macs, Cortland, Honeycrisp and Gala. Cash only but there is an ATM inside the Farm Shoppe. $5 admission for 10 years and above, $2.50/lb

🎤 Live music on Saturday and Sunday from 4:30-7:30

Friday Night, we have Isabella Morency. @isabella.morency is a singer/songwriter from Kleinburg and has been performing and busking for over a decade. She mainly accompanies herself with the ukulele, but sings a variety of genres. She'll be donating 20% of her tips tonight to the Residential School Survivors.

Saturday Night, Thomas Kovacs is new to the Cider Gardens. @thomaskovacsmusic is a singer and guitarist playing your favourite songs from the 60s through to the 90s

The Cider Gardens will be open all weekend.

🍕 Pizza Night - Friday and Saturday after 4pm. Tonight, 25% of feature pizza sales will be donated to @bethellhospicefoundation

🥧 and don't forget to place your pre-order for Thanksgiving weekend. Pies, tarts and baked goods - pre-orders close this Sunday at 5pm.

On this day of Truth & Reconciliation, we'd first

On this day of Truth & Reconciliation, we'd first like to acknowledge that our building is on the Treaty Lands and Territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nations. In particular we acknowledge the territory of the Huron-Wendat, and Haudenosaunee peoples.

We'd like to also tell a story of the Three Sisters, and the story behind the name of this popular salad.

Corn, squash and beans were the main crops for many Indigenous communities. When planted side-by-side, they helped each other grow and were nicked named "The Three Sisters".

The corn stalks provided support for the beans; the beans helped provide fertilizer for the soil; the spiny leaves of the squash protected the beans from animals.

We call our salad, Three Sisters in the Woods, because not only is it made with squash, corn and lentils, but we've added mushrooms. It's delicious and we how you enjoy it.
